Springinsguth West Branch DuPage River Stream Corridor Improvements

Village of Schaumburg, IL - Completed April 2024
Approximately 3,000 feet of stream corridor improvements. Re-meandering alignment; regrading of banks; installation of vegetated stone toe; installation of riffle structures; removal of an existing sheetpile wall; installation of watermain under the stream; cured in place pipe (CIPP) lining of sanitary sewer under the stream; grading to create floodplain storage; and planting and native seeding restoration. Constructed by Control Point & Earthwerks Corp. Designed by Engineering Resource Associates.

Dupage County Campus Pond

Dupage County, IL - Completed July 2023
The Dupage County Campus Pond projects consisted of earth excavation on the east edge of the East Fairgrounds Pond. Key project deliverables included:
  • Additional stormwater storage volume in the pond
  • Placement of excavated earth to fill in the existing wet-bottom pond to create a wetland-bottom pond
  • Placement of the remainder of the excavated earth to create a spoil pile at the northeast corner of the campus
Project work also included pavement removal and replacement, storm sewer removal and replacement, pedestrian pathway, erosion control, landscaping, wetland creation, and the placement of riprap. Constructed by Control Point & Earthwerks Corp. Designed by V3.

Jackson Pond Expansion

Village of Villa Park, IL - Completed July 2023
The Jackson Pond Middle School Pond Expansion project consisted of the expansion to the existing Jackson Pond and improvements to the drainage system into and out of Jackson Pond. This was accomplished with:
  • Earthwork to the existing basin expansion
  • Installation of a new large diameter storm sewer from Jackson Street to Jackson Pond
  • Modifications to the Jackson Pond pipe outlet and overflow swale
Techniques used included:
  • Construction of a new storm sewer
  • Associated flare end sections, grates, culverts, underdrains, manholes, catch basins, inlets and headwalls
  • Restoration of existing asphalt and concrete payments and sidewalks
  • Construction layout
  • Traffic control & protection

Lufkin Park

Villa Park, IL - Completed June 2023
Project work included dredging operations and mechanical dredging of pond, tree removal, shoreline stabilization, fiber roll, seeding, vegetated geogrid wall on banks and site restoration. Constructed by Control Point & Earthwerks Corp. Designed by V3.

Klein Creek Streambank Stabilization

Village of Carol Stream, IL - Completed December 2022
The Klein Creek Streambank Stabilization project involved streambank excavation and reshaping, including re-meandering to create a new channel and ox-bow areas, and wetland construction. Stabilization measures included:
  • Vegetated rock toe
  • In-stream rock substrate areas
  • Stream barbs
  • Toe wood with rock
  • Pre-cast modular retaining wall
  • Tree removal and clearing
  • Adjusting storm outfalls
  • Turf restoration
  • Native vegetation installation, maintenance and monitoring

Lincoln Park North Pond Restoration

Lincoln Park Conservancy - Chicago, IL - Completed December 2022
The North Pond Restoration project included dredging the pond to deepen it, grading and restoring the shoreline, polymer pond liner, park underdrain installation, general park improvements and granite path improvements. Constructed by Control Point & Earthwerks Corp. Designed by Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Ltd. and Smith Group.

Deep River Rock Riffle Improvements

Little Calumet River Basin Commission - Merrillville, IN - Completed July 2021
Completed for Lake County Parks Department and the Little Calumet River Basin Commission, project work included the demolition of structures, construction of rock riffle consisting of four cascading pools, partial removal of sheet pile dam, earth embankments, install pedestrian bridge, concrete and bituminous path construction, utility relocations, and site restoration and revegetation. Constructed by Control Point & Earthwerks Corp. Designed by Recreation Engineering and Planning and Patrick Engineering Inc.

Timber Ridge Streambank Stabilization

West Chicago, IL - Completed July 2021
The scope of work consisted of excavation of eroded streambank, and installation of rock bank protection, granite cobble and stone placement, willow staking and wetland plug installation, and all necessary site restoration.
